Digifest is a yearly event that is put on and hosted by the University of Houston's Digital Media program. At the event, seniors of the program connect with industry heads and company leaders to showcase their skills in the hopes of finding employment. This invitation is a direct mail piece that utilizing one-to-one marketing.
The logic:  The invitation's appearance changes based on the sender and the recipient. For example,  each group member had a different color scheme associated with their major. Every person I wanted to send an invite to would have received a yellow invitation that included my specialty, a photo of myself, my logo, and my signature.
The design: Because the invitation was for an official University of Houston event, I had to ensure that the final result upheld the university's branding guidelines. I could only use the exact typefaces and color palette specified in UH's branding guide. For the overall design, I wanted to create something crisp and angular. I utilized triangles to accomplish this goal and made sure to bring focus to the photographic elements.
The team: This project was a team effort. To kick off the project, each group member provided the database lead with a list of potential companies they wanted to invite to the event.
Once all four lists were given to our database lead, she compiled the information into a database.  Using the XMPie plugin for Adobe InDesign, I then applied the database to the document and designed the entire invitation. Our team lead managed our progress and kept the group on schedule. She worked hard to make sure everyone was meeting their set goals, and that we functioned well as a group. Finally, our photographer took pictures of each group member to put on the invite.
Our group had a great experience working together because it was easy to align our goals and truly create something eye-catching and creative. We had weekly meetings where we emphasized our goals for the week, and how to meet them. It was overall a great experience.
